GEOTEXTILES TEXTILES GEOGRIDS GECOMPOSITES GEOMEMBRANE FABRICS MEMBRANE NETTING SOIL STABILISATION Geotextiles are used as a material separation layer in civil engineering and landscaping works. The geotexile layer provides a filtration layer to allow water to pass through and reinforcement to the material layers. Reinforcement of the material layers can be further increased using geogrids which are plastic based strips formed or jointed into a open grid or mat or geocomposites which are a combination of geotextile / geogrid formed as one layer of fabric. Geotextiles can be woven or non-woven fabric . Geotexiles are essentially permeable fabrics used to seperate the existing earth formation from the more expensive roadstone layers placed and compacted above from intermixing, resulting in the voids in the stone being replaced by the finer soil particles which in turn would allow movement in the stone layer resulting in the stone layer failing. Geotextiles can also be used as landscaping fabrics as a seperation layer and as part of weed control measures.
